Are you considering to buy the Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC-P42X1 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV? Then check out our consumer review.
I purchased this from Amazon.com, with the scheduled delivery from CEVA. Ordered last sunday, delivery was one week later. Having the option of sunday delivery was great, and the delivery was very professional and definitely white glove.
Two people brought the TV in (carrying properly as this is a plasma), opened the box, put the TV on the stand, powered the TV on and waited for me to check whether there is any problem with the TV.

Had the Samsung LN40A550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV for a month now and can say it was good purchase. Thank you Amazon for your prompt and courteous delivery!
It was my second HDTV purchase from Samsung and I am very happy with the brand. This HDTV I put in the Bedroom. We watch the HDTV approx. 8-10 ft away and a 40″ is just about right.
Great picture, just hooked-up HD Dish Network and WOW what a picture, and right out of the box! The internal speakers are good if you tweak them a little, but I would plan on connecting the TV to a receiver.

First of all this is NOT a REGZA from Toshiba, which is more high end than this item. However, Toshiba 40RV525U 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV does look good with its black piano lacquered front bezel (although it is not as shiny as the Samsungs but less wobbly in its reflection, so it is equal in aesthetics).
It comes with 3 HDMI ports. Very important for the future as the switch boxes are trouble in our experience.
What we noticed MOST during the research into this item is that Toshiba is not very forthcoming with specs other than Gamer Mode being great for next gen console requirements, 1080P and the number of HDMI ports. Even downloading the manual for spec sheets gives you nothing on contrast or the milliseconds is requires.
We took the gamble since the item was hundreds cheaper than the next best thing and are VERY happy with it. The contrast ratio is not as good as a Samsung since you need to put the contrast and brightness up a bit but there is no ghosting or fuzziness when playing XBOX or PS3.

Here’s what people say about Samsung LN40A650 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color.
First of all, Amazon’s white glove delivery service was great. I was a little hesitant about buying a TV of this size online but now that I’ve gone through the process I would do it again in a heartbeat.
For those of you who have been following the news on the A650s, the reset issue has been fixed with the latest firmware. Chances are you will have to upgrade the firmware yourself when the TV arrives but it is pretty simple procedure using a USB thumb drive and Samsung provides step by step instructions with photos if you need them.
I’ve had my TV for about four days now and I’m still completely blown away by clarity, detail and colors this set produces. The LN40A650 has three HDMI inputs on the back, and one HDMI input on left side which made my devices incredibly easy to hook up. I then watched Ratatouille followed by Apocalypto, both on Blu-ray - great movies to show off your new set.

I will tell you that this Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ85U 50″ 1080p Plasma HDTV is the best plasma ever manufactured and Amazon has the best price ANYWHERE!! I researched televisions for almost 3 years before making an HD TV purchase.
Panasonic plasmas have what the industry refers to as, “True Mirror Image.” LCDs are good televisions but they can’t touch the way in which the visual picture is represented with life-like tones and ultimate clarity on this plasma.
The highlights from my research are as follows:

Very happy with Samsung HL61A750 61-Inch 1080p LED Powered DLP HDTV! Much improved over last years LED sets. Excellent picture, great performance, and nice, efficient LED engine.
Does it have the best picture available? No, that’s probably the 9G Pioneer Kuro plasma, but that costs about $3000 more. Even the new Mitsubishi bulb based DLP’s have a slightly better picture, since they use the newer TI Darkchip4 DLP chip, and the Samsung uses the Darkchip3.
But, I feel the advantages of the LED light engine outweigh any slight picture quality difference. In my opinion, this TV has the best bang for the buck, by far.

I researched HDTVs for a couple of months, and decided to pull the trigger on the 50pz800u. I am very pleased with my decision. I think the 800u is the best high-end plasma for the money.
After reading countless CNET reviews, Amazon reviews, and AVSforum comments, I narrowed my decision to the Samsung LN46A650 LCD, Pioneer 5020FD Plasma, and the Panny 800u. After watching a couple of football games at Best Buy, I decided that plasma was the way to go–sports looked incredible.
The Pioneer Kuro line has the best picture quality and black levels, but I feel that they have poor value. In my opinion, the differences in quality are not worth the premium you must pay for the Kuros (especially the Elites).

I have had Samsung LN52A750 52-Inch 1080p DLNA LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color for about 2 weeks now. It’s one of the best purchases I’ve made. I’ll try to go through some of the positives and negatives (there are so few!) about the TV.
Picture - absolutely amazing. I’m not an expert when it comes to HDTV picture quality and won’t say that this is the best picture out there, but it just awesome to watch. I try to always find something on the HD channels to watch before I go to the regular channels. But even the 720p channels are pretty good. I did calibrate the TV with the internet’s help (before you spend the money on a professional or calibration CD try doing a search for samsung ln52a750 calibration…you’ll find a lot of instruction on this). Haven’t tried blu-ray yet, but upconverted DVD looks awesome.
Sound - people have said the sound isn’t so great..i think it’s not bad. I hooked up an HDMI from my cable box to the TV and the sound hasn’t been disappointing. If you have a sound system this shouldn’t be a concern (the TV has an optical audio out…so you can hook up everything to the TV and output the sound to your sound system). If you don’t have a sound system..i don’t think you’ll be upset by the quality (just my opinion).
Appearance - this is a very nice looking set. It looks great in my apartment. As for the TOC, it does not bother me or any of my friends that have seen it. I don’t even think I would have noticed it if it wasn’t mentioned in reviews often. The TV does produce a glare, but next time you go to a local electronics store to look at TVs notice that most of them have a glare! Once the TV is on and you’re watching anything, the glare becomes a non-issue.

I recently bought the Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ80U 42″ 1080p Plasma HDTV and I’ve been using it for about 2 months.
Picture:
I was a little skeptical of the virtue of plasma’s over LCD’s because, in those white-washed, warehouse stores, the difference in contrast looks to be negligable. I was wrong. This set produces outstanding blacks. I have another LCD in the house and I didn’t know what I was missing. Contrast ratio on this set is very, very good. Blu-Rays on my PS3 look amazing. I just watched “The Incredible Hulk” and I was SHOCKED at how good it looked. It is unbelievable what this 1080p set can do with the right content. There is far more detail in 1080p than there is in 720p. In the short amount of time I’ve had the Viera, I’ve viewed almost everything I could: sports, news, sit-coms, dramas, HD, SD, Blu-rays, DVD’s, video games, computer games, PC use.
It crushes almost everything you throw at it with ease. (I say almost because of problems using it as a computer monitor, see below) Also, the screen itself is glossy, not matte like some LCD’s. Personally, I’ve always prefered the deeper color and slightly more glarey picture of glossy screens over the more-washed out, less reflective matte screens. The Viera has an anti-reflictive coating (aparently) and it does help with glare a lot, at least compared to glossy laptop screens, and TV’s I’ve seen. I have a window behind my seat and I really can’t say I’ve been bothered by reflections at all.

I hesitated buying Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color until I read that a firmware update fixed the shut-off issue. I bought mine today - hooked up a Samsung (DVD-HD860)unconverting DVD player (HDMI) and Wow.
The DVD player is only a 1080i - I’m gonna get the 1080p version or wait for Blu-Ray (read below). The picture on this TV is simply amazing. If you’re thinking about this TV, just do it. I’ve been researching and waiting for 3 months. Incredible PQ. HD channels look great and DVDs are fantastic. I’ll be getting a Blu-ray player as soon as the new versions come out later this summer (I hope).
I played a home movie DVD that I made and saw colors and detail I hadn’t seen in the same movie on another (DLP)TV/DVD player. BTW, I called Samsung for the firmware update - the gal told me it would be harmful to my TV unless it had the shut-off problem and advised against it.
